The story
FIFTY TWO is a modern cuisine restaurant at Follifoot, Harrogate, HG3 1JH, where chef and host Adam cooks in full view of the dining room. The AA awarded it three Rosettes in 2026 for culinary excellence.
Adam opened FIFTY TWO in May 2024, after cooking at Wild Honey and Chiltern Firehouse in London. He had already earned three AA Rosettes as Head Chef at Horto, also at Rudding Park. Guests sit at five tables with social seating, and every seat looks onto the kitchen. There is no menu. Snacks and fresh bread come first, then a run of plates, a main event and dessert. The Michelin Guide recommends the restaurant for 2026.
Head Kitchen Gardener Emma Pugh looks after 52 raised beds, a glasshouse and a polytunnel. Her team grows more than 500 edible plants using organic, no-dig methods. What the garden cannot supply comes from local producers the kitchen trusts, so the modern cooking follows the seasons closely.
Calum, the sommelier and host, oversees the drinks pairing, which draws on wines, fresh juices and garden-inspired cocktails. Aprons are on hand for guests who want to help in the kitchen. Each table has a deck of conversation cards, and over pudding you can choose a track for the restaurant's playlist.
