The story
The Peacock at Rowsley serves Modern British food from its boutique hotel on Bakewell Road, Rowsley, DE4 2EB, and holds three AA Rosettes for 2026. The Michelin Guide also lists it as Recommended for 2026.
The kitchen builds its menus around the seasons and the Peak District, working with local farmers, foragers and artisans. Much of the preparation happens in-house: the team smokes its own salmon, preps its own deer and buys crab only live. Dietary requirements are handled without changing the standard of the dish, so the Modern British menus stay open to everyone at the table.
Lunch is described as Michelin-inspired, while dinner is a seasonal menu guided by the chefs. On Saturday evenings an 8-course tasting menu runs alongside it, available by pre-booking. Sunday brings roasts, and breakfast is a full affair of classics and modern favourites.
Afternoon tea comes with sweets and pastries from the in-house pastry chef. The drinks list covers wines, spirits and seasonal cocktails, and English sparkling wine is poured by the glass in June. Private dining spaces are available for occasions, with menus from the Head Chef.
