The story
Prithvi, at 37 Bath Road in Cheltenham, is a modern Indian restaurant that earned a Michelin Recommended listing in 2026. The kitchen also holds three AA Rosettes for the same year, and its menus are tasting-led, with French and Indian cuisines both listed among its styles.
Jay Rahman founded Prithvi, and Thomas Law leads the kitchen as head chef. Law trained at Michelin level, and his menus rework traditional Indian dishes for a modern palate. The restaurant builds its dishes from locally sourced ingredients.
The main dining room serves a 5 or 7 course tasting menu, and a vegetarian option is listed. Vegetarian and pescetarian tasting options are available on request, but the kitchen cannot cater for a vegan diet. Tomato, onion, garlic, dairy and ginger cannot be accommodated, since they form the base of the sauces. A private room on the first floor seats up to 12 guests for 5 or 7 course tasting menus. Guests are asked to dress smart casual, with blazers or dresses suggested.
