The story

RAGÙ Bristol: Italian Sharing Plates in Wapping Wharf

RAGÙ is a sharing plates Italian restaurant at Unit 25, Cargo 2, Museum Street, Wapping Wharf, Bristol, and holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026 for good quality, good value cooking. The kitchen works from a short menu of seasonal dishes that are built around quality ingredients and prepared simply.

The cooking

The Good Food Guide, which lists RAGÙ as Good, singled out crispy Roman artichoke fritti with silky aïoli. Its review also praised lamb shoulder served in a pool of pea ragù with salsa verde and pecorino. Tomato brodo is one to order when it appears on the menu. Pasta is a small part of the list, and the focus sits on plates meant to be shared.

The room and the table

The room is small and bright, with window-box foliage and framed pictures adding colour. Dessert has a following of its own. The chocolate budino comes with amaretti crumb and glossy cherries, and the site calls its tiramisu infamous. The drinks list leans toward aperitifs and vermouths, with a set of modestly priced house wines.

The Good Food Guide — Good

If you’re a fan of Bedminster’s hip, Mediterranean sharing plates diner, Cor, then the arrival of its sister restaurant in Tare Bistro's recently vacated shipping container on Bristol's Harbourside will be a cause for rejoicing. It's a tiny space, but it feels light and bright, with window-box foliage and framed pictures adding splashes of colour. The sharing concept remains, while the food is emphatically focused on Italy – so expect perfectly balanced plates of sunshine-drenched flavours. Pasta dishes are surprisingly thin on the ground (tagliolini with crab, chilli, parsley, Amalfi lemon and pangrattato, say), but this is no loss. Instead, the menu runs from delicious morsels such as a pair of crispy Roman artichoke fritti with silky aïoli to a hefty plateful involving succulent shards of lamb shoulder in a pool of pea ragù with salsa verde and pecorino. A word to the wise – if you see tomato brodo on the menu, order it. Likewise, it would be remiss to turn down the wickedly indulgent chocolate budino with amaretti crumb and glistening cherries – though the selection of Italian cheese served with grapes and homemade focaccia crostini is equally tempting. The drinks list is strong on refreshing aperitifs and vermouths, as well as offering a good selection of modestly priced house wines.
