The story
Gordon's sits on Main Road in Inverkeilor, by Arbroath (DD11 5RN), where the kitchen serves modern cuisine with a Franco-Scottish streak. The AA awarded the restaurant three Rosettes in 2026 for culinary excellence.
Garry Watson cooks alone in the kitchen while Maria runs the front of house, and the family-run restaurant keeps changing. The cooking has a modern feel and draws on local produce. Dishes such as lamb from nearby farms paired with seasonal girolles show that approach. One guide describes the menu as seasonal and the cooking as good Franco-Scot food.
The restaurant with rooms occupies a Victorian terrace house in a coastal hamlet close to Lunan Bay. Each of the five rooms, Juniper, Seville, Thistle, Courtyard Suite and Artichoke, is individually designed. The Thistle Suite, the showcase room, has a roll-top bath and a monsoon shower. Guests also praise the breakfasts.
