The story
The Ukai Taipei serves Japanese teppanyaki and kappou cooking on the 46th floor of Breeze Nan Shan, at 17 Songzhi Road in Taipei's Xinyi District. The restaurant received a Michelin Recommended distinction in 2026, and its French and Japanese menus are set against panoramic views of the city.
The teppanyaki menu, served as UKAI亭, runs as set courses at lunch and dinner. Lunch courses are listed from NT$3,500, and dinner courses from NT$6,600 to NT$8,800. The counter format means guests sit close to the cooking, watching each course prepared on the iron griddle.
Kappou ukai is the restaurant's second Japanese format, with its own set menus. Lunch courses start at NT$2,500 and dinner at NT$4,500 or NT$5,500. The kappou menu offers a quieter, more traditional counter-style alternative to the teppanyaki courses.
The restaurant sits on the 46th floor, with views across the city from the dining room. The wine programme earned a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2024. Prices quoted include 5% consumption tax, with a 10% service charge added separately.
