The story
Ephernité is a French restaurant at 233, Section 2, Anhe Road, Da'an District, Taipei, where the kitchen cooks with produce grown and gathered near Mt. Yangmingshan. It holds a Michelin Recommended listing for 2026, and the Michelin Guide Taipei has recommended it every year since 2018.
Chef Vanessa Huang studied filmmaking and art in France before enrolling at Ferrandi Paris. She then trained under Pascal Barbot at Astrance, a three-star Michelin restaurant. She returned to Taiwan in 2014 and opened Ephernité, a name that plays on "ephemerality" and "eternity." Her French technique meets Taiwanese ingredients, and in 2019 the Michelin Guide named her among Asia's Top 9 female chefs.
Only one tasting menu is served each day, and it changes with the local produce that arrives. The seasonal menu offers nine small omakase-style courses for NTD 3,500, including an amuse-bouche, three appetizers, fish and meat courses, cheeses and desserts. The chef's tasting menu costs NTD 5,000 and usually runs nine to twelve servings, adjusted to each guest's preferences. For a special day, the kitchen adds a hand-lettered candle message to the dessert at no charge, and a cake can be arranged with three days' notice.
The dining room is small and quiet, seating no more than 20 guests at one time. The wine list leans French, and about 30% of it is natural wine. The restaurant also holds one Radish in the We're Smart Green Guide for 2026.
