Potato-FINE FOOD Restaurant sits at Bahnhofstrasse 10 in Zermatt, where the kitchen serves modern cuisine rooted in Valais and French cooking. Gault&Millau gave it 14 points in 2026, and the Michelin Guide lists it as Recommended the same year.

Chef Matteo Lupo and the kitchen

Matteo Lupo became head chef after serving as sous-chef at Potato from 2020. His earlier posts include Au Crocodile in Strasbourg, a Michelin restaurant, the Mont Cervin Palace in Zermatt, and Ristorante Parco Le Pigne in Italy. The house starts with local produce and sources suppliers within 99 kilometres, so the menu follows what grows nearby.

Dishes that stood out

Gault&Millau singled out a cucumber salad with fermented red onion, croutons and mustard ice cream, layered like a lasagne over cucumber gelatin. Shaved green asparagus with wild garlic, morels and a breadcrumb-fried egg also impressed. The beetroot soup ran too sharp for some palates, and a veal dish was overpowered by a truffle and morel gremolata. Dessert brings a lemon madeleine with basil jelly, then a block of softly set caramel around apple purée.

Wine, drinks and the room

The wine list features only Valais wines, including some rare bottles. Guests can choose a Valais wine pairing or a cocktail pairing, which is also available without alcohol. The Chef's Choice Mini is a curated 12-course tasting drawn from the winter menu. The dining room keeps things unfussy, and the service is warm and personal.
