The story
Ilge, a Mediterranean and classic cuisine restaurant at Rathausplatz 14 in Wil, earned 14 points from Gault&Millau in 2026. The Michelin Recommended listing for the same year sits alongside that score, and the kitchen's market-fresh plates keep the focus on the produce itself.
Snezana and Zoran Baratovic run the restaurant. The chef cooks in a direct, unfussy style that follows what the market delivers. Snezana Baratovic leads the service and recommends wines with confidence.
Wild salmon arrives over beet carpaccio with crisp kadayif and shaved horseradish. Wild-caught shrimp come in olive oil, sharpened with garlic and chili pods. The house classic, Irish Black Angus fillet, is cooked to the point and served with an herb sauce, winter vegetables and Acquerello risotto. Challans duck breast is finished with a heavily reduced orange and port sauce, with celery, Brussels sprout leaves and pommes rissolées.
In fine weather the tables move out to the market square, where guests eat in the middle of the small town. The dessert list was noted as having room for improvement, and the choices named were mango sorbet with champagne and an affogato.
