The story
Landgasthof Bären in Langenthal, at Kirchgässli 1 in Madiswil, is a seasonal kitchen that earned 14 Gault&Millau points in 2026. The historic inn has welcomed guests since 1646 and is also listed as Michelin Recommended for 2026.
The Bäre Menü changes with the season. The current menu names white asparagus from Bögli Hof in Oschwand, smoked trout from Roggwil and morel ravioli. Vegetarian and vegan dishes run alongside, and menus come in four, five or six courses.
The kitchen keeps old favorites such as Rindsfilet Stroganoff and calf's liver with herbs and butter rösti. Eleven hotel rooms sit within the half-timbered house, and Gault&Millau singles out the inn's large garden.
