The story
Luciole, a vegan restaurant at Rue Daniel-Jeanrichard 19 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, serves a seasonal plant-based tasting menu and earned 14 points from Gault&Millau in 2026. The kitchen works with a short list of regional suppliers and changes its menus every month.
Welsh-born chef Daniel Baker runs the kitchen with his partner, Anne-Gabrielle Dubuis, who leads the front of house. The restaurant keeps its scale deliberately small and seats a limited number of guests. Its ingredients come from local growers, and it holds a BioSuisse certificate.
Reviewers singled out a kohlrabi sliced paper-thin and flamed with a torch, served with Zurich wasabi, seaweed and lemon gel. A carrot course returns to the same vegetable in several forms: mousse, tartare, pickles, and a pesto made from carrot tops, lifted with cinnamon, fig leaf and elderflower. The dessert, with melissa, dill and makrut lime, was judged less harmonious than the rest of the meal.
The dining room feels intimate and a little nostalgic, with the compact kitchen visible through glass. Diners choose between a ten-course and a fourteen-course menu. Michelin lists Luciole as Recommended for 2026.
