The story
Beaufort stands at Gersauerstrasse 91 in Ingenbohl, beside the small Fallenbach marina on Lake Lucerne. Its Mediterranean and seafood kitchen holds 14 points from Gault&Millau for 2026.
Gault&Millau credits chef Werner Maus with years of cooking traditional dishes in a contemporary way, mostly from regional ingredients. The restaurant also appears in the Michelin Guide as Recommended for 2026. The house itself puts freshly caught fish and Mediterranean food first.
The guide singles out Piedmontese noodles with Parmesan, figs and winter truffle. There is a hearty spring onion soup with smoked trout, and a tartare of Innerschwyz beef with watercress, cucumber and wasabi. Tafelspitz from the rump cap arrives with the well-known "Beaufort" fries. Banana ice cream with praline foam closes the meal, and the compact wine list is put together with care.
The restaurant has its own landing stage and a terrace facing the water. Steamers glide past, gulls cross the Fallenbach harbour, and small waves reach the shore. For groups of 12 or more, the kitchen offers a shared "Tavolata" table.
