The story
Chappeli at Allerheiligenstrasse 218 in Grenchen is a seasonal kitchen that Gault&Millau scored 16 points in 2026. The restaurant sits at the upper edge of town beside the Allerheiligenkapelle, and it reopened in 2014 after extensive renovation.
Head chef Christoph Köhli writes the menu on a slate board. He draws on regional produce and Mediterranean traditions, and most vegetables are seasonal and local, with summer harvests from the restaurant's own garden. Janine Hausmann serves the courses with a warm, competent manner. The Michelin Bib Gourmand for good quality, good value cooking (2026) reflects the same approach.
Among the starters, black risotto with pan-fried giant prawns stands out, alongside goat cheese ravioli with spinach and pickled porcini. A Black Angus fillet arrives with creamy mashed potatoes and Meaux mustard. Seared tuna sits on lemon-infused fregola sarda. The pistachio pastry, playfully billed as "the best in the world", closes the meal.
