The story
Höfli, at Schauenburgerstrasse 1 in Altdorf, is a Swiss restaurant that earned 14 points from Gault&Millau in 2026. The kitchen cooks traditional Swiss dishes with fine dining care, inside a historic building in the old town.
The Chateaubriand, served in two courses with béarnaise sauce and chanterelles, is the house classic. The kitchen also runs a six-course seasonal menu. When Gault&Millau visited, it featured asparagus: an asparagus ice, housemade tagliatelle in cream with almond slivers, and beef tenderloin cooked rosy and served with red wine jus and morels. The meal ended with white chocolate mousse, carrot sorbet and a black olive coulis.
The Gaststube is cozy and was renovated in a stylish way. Behind the building, an inner courtyard is framed by historic walls, a detail Schlemmer Atlas also highlights with its 2.5 Kochlöffel rating for 2026. Guests can choose the lunch menu, à la carte in the evening, or a set menu of up to six courses.
