The story
B.A.R. is a seafood restaurant at Blasieholmsgatan 4A in Stockholm, on Blasieholmen near Nybroviken. The White Guide placed it at Fine level in 2026, and Michelin lists it as Recommended the same year.
Guests choose their dinner from the aquarium or the ice counter, then decide the order and the cooking. The White Guide names redfish, seabass, sea catfish and cod loin (torskrygg) among the options. One guest favourite is the cod loin grilled and served with a risotto rich in aged cheese.
You can also build a plate from scratch or pick one of the house dishes, which are paired to suit the season.
Peter Johansson, Annette Johansson and Daniel Frick run the restaurant as a family business. They previously ran the fine-dining Lux Stockholm for more than six years before opening B.A.R. Peter took silver at Årets kock in 2006. Daniel won Årets unga kock in 2004 and represented Sweden at the Bocuse d'Or world final in Calgary that year.
The menu follows the seasons, so the dishes shift across the year.
The room is a modern bistro, and it is lively. The White Guide notes a young crowd and a noise level that rises with the room. The bar is quieter and better suited to conversation. Shellfish such as crayfish, with a glass of champagne, is a classic pairing here.
For those who prefer to eat at home, the kitchen also sells fish to take away and accepts phone orders.
