The story
Bastardo is an Italian restaurant at Surbrunnsgatan 20 in Stockholm, placed at Masters level by the White Guide in 2026.
Jesper Skemark, Joakim Mering and Daniel Gunneriusson run the kitchen. Each has years in the restaurant trade, and this is the first place they have opened together. The White Guide noted that tables are hard to get and that guests wait to be seated, yet heard nothing but praise. Gambero Rosso also gave this Italian kitchen one fork in 2026.
The dining room is in the basement of Clas, a historic 18th-century inn on the corner. Dinner comes with table service, and there is outdoor seating. A private room, the Chambre séparée, can be booked for events.

A gift from a traveling prince has landed in the basement of the historic 18th-century inn Clas on the corner in Östermalm's Siberia. Getting a table at the relatively newly opened Bastardo is no small feat. When we arrive for our reservation at 7:45 PM, several parties are still waiting to be let in, and there is a wait. But here, White Guide can probably afford to take a gastronomic academic quarter-hour. After all, nothing but praise is heard about this venture. The new Italian spot is run by the three chefs Jesper Skemark, Joakim Mering, and Daniel Gunneriusson. A trio that has long worked in the restaurant industry and is now opening their very first restaurant.
