The story
Disfrutar is an avant-garde restaurant in Barcelona at Calle Villarroel 163, 08036, and earned three Michelin stars in 2026. The menu is a tasting format with a markedly Mediterranean character, served in the Eixample.
The restaurant opened in December 2014 after its founders, Mateu Casañas, Oriol Castro and Eduard Xatruch, trained together at elBulli. They also ran Compartir, which opened in Cadaqués in April 2012. In The World's 50 Best Restaurants list, Disfrutar was ranked first in 2024.
The dining room uses ceramic as its common thread, with wrought iron from the nearby Ninot Market and the colours of Mironian ceramics at the entrance. A central clay-toned corridor runs past the kitchen, which is fully visible from the tables. The main room is bright and white, meant to evoke small fishing villages, and opens onto a terrace that nods to Compartir.
Table M#01 sits in the R&D kitchen one floor below street level. It was developed with designer Merche Alcalá of MA design studio, together with Castro, Xatruch and Casañas. The table is built into the meal itself, so the experience can only take place in that room.
