The story
Miza za štiri serves modern cuisine at Mariborska ulica 17 in Zgornja Polskava, Slovenia, and earned a 15.5 score from Gault&Millau in 2026. The restaurant sits at the foothills of Pohorje and seats only a dozen guests a day, so each evening is built around one table's worth of attention.
Chef Jure Brložnik leads the kitchen, and his wife Maja Miška Brložnik runs the dining room. The menu puts vegetables at its center, with the freshest sea ingredients in support and one deliberate meat course. Two sommeliers select the wine list, and wine pairing is available with the menu.
The signature experience, Between Fire, Whispers and Memories, opens with bites served without explanation. Guests guess the ingredients before the chef reveals the story behind each course. Later courses include a roasted beetroot tartare, butter-seared scallops with cooked chestnuts and pecans in a miso broth finished with seawater, and roasted meagre with oyster mushrooms and a sunny-side quail egg.
Tables and small wooden details were made by hand by a local woodworker, and the plates are designed to match the setting. The restaurant is also listed in the Michelin Guide as a Recommended restaurant for 2026. There are two options: a seven-course classic tasting menu at 95 EUR per person, and the signature experience at 110 EUR per person. Drinks are not included, and fully vegan or gluten-free menus are not currently offered.
