The story
Vila Planinka in Preddvor runs a modern Alpine kitchen at Zgornje Jezersko 67, Zgornje Jezersko, 4206, and Gault&Millau awarded it 14.5 points in 2026. The restaurant sits inside a mountain hotel in the Jezersko valley. Hotel guests dine here, and outside guests are welcome with a table reservation.
The kitchen works with organic and local produce, much of it from nearby eco farms. Jezersko has more than a thousand kinds of herbs, and many of them end up in the restaurant kitchen. The hotel's garden grows only plants native to the area, and the villa bottles its own mineral water on site.
Gault&Millau singled out the smoked potato ravioli, where a humble potato tastes unexpected. The pike-perch fillet with almond purée also earned praise. The vegan menu is written with the same care as the rest of the menu, and the Michelin Guide lists the restaurant as Recommended for 2026.
A climate-controlled wine room, which the two in-house sommeliers call the Sanctuary, holds bottles from all nine Slovenian wine-growing regions and from Slovenian producers across the border. The collection includes traditional local varieties, lesser-known indigenous grapes, and rare archival vintages. Wine pairing is available alongside the tasting menu, and the sommeliers suggest bottles that match each course.
