The story
Gostilna Pri Lojzetu serves modern cuisine at Dvorec Zemono, Vipava, 5271, in the Ajdovščina area, and holds one Michelin Star for 2026. The kitchen belongs to chef Tomaž Kavčič, who cooks inside a manor house surrounded by vineyards.
Kavčič's stated principle is that the ingredient matters most. The kitchen follows the seasons, and its techniques run from the plainly traditional to the more inventive. None of them is meant to change a product's basic flavour. Gault&Millau gave the restaurant 17.5 in 2026 and described food that sits on the border between tradition and modernity.
Meals open with torn bread, horseradish spread and freshly pressed olive oil. Wild duck is deboned and cooked slowly at low temperature in its own sauce, then served with polenta, seasonal vegetables and herbs from the garden and nearby meadows. The suckling pig is cooked first and finished on the grill. Young cheese with mustard, a cheese tart and a seasonal vegetable cream come alongside it.
The wine list is flagged as an interesting one, which suits a house in the Vipava Valley. There is outdoor seating at the manor and parking on site. The restaurant also hosts events and catering from the same address.
