The story
Alexander Rappoport launched Black Thai Restaurant in Moscow in 2014, eventually settling into its permanent home within the historic Radisson Collection hotel. Chef Artem Martirosov now leads the kitchen, applying a contemporary approach to Thai cuisine that balances regional brightness with modern precision. His method relies on combining unexpected ingredients while keeping the foundational flavors intact.
Regular diners often return for the warm crispy aubergine salad served with fresh lychee and a bright lime dressing. Tom yum remains a constant reference point in their Thai cooking repertoire, prepared with precise heat and aromatic herbs. Other favorites include the Bangkok-style duck, green papaya salad paired with coconut foam, and lamb cooked with green basil and onions.
Anastasia Panibratova’s design studio shaped the dining room into a polished oriental jewel box, using scarlet columns and a golden dragon-shaped bar to anchor the space. Photographs of traditional dancers hang against the walls, drawing attention upward to an antique Thai-style chandelier suspended from the ceiling. This visual intensity caught the attention of guide judges, securing a casual category award from Thai SELECT.
