The story
Fortaleza do Guincho, at Estrada do Guincho 2413 in Cascais, is a Portuguese fine dining restaurant that holds one Michelin star (2026). Its kitchen draws on Portuguese produce and traditions, and Wine Spectator honoured its wine list with a Best of Award of Excellence (2025).
Chef Gil Fernandes leads the kitchen. The restaurant began with a classic cuisine, and Portuguese products and traditions have since taken a larger place on the menu. The Michelin star recognises high quality cooking, and guests can choose from tasting menus.
The Spot is the casual room on the same site, open for cocktails, lunch, dinner or afternoon tea. It has indoor and outdoor seating with views over the Atlantic Ocean. The menu includes snacks, sandwiches, salads, soups and pastries.
