The story
Maaemo, at Dronning Eufemias gate 23 in Oslo, cooks a New Nordic tasting menu and holds three Michelin stars, a 2026 award.
The dining room is glassed in, and the kitchen sits above it, so guests can watch the front of house team work through service. Main room tables seat one to six guests. Larger parties can book the private dining room, which seats up to 16 and has its own kitchen and staff. It serves the same courses as the main tasting menu.
The seasonal tasting menu costs 5,500 NOK per guest. Wine pairings start at 3,400 NOK, with prestige selections at 8,500 NOK and a "Holy Grails" selection at 26,500 NOK. A seasonal non-alcoholic selection is 1,900 NOK. The White Guide, which awarded Maaemo global masters level in 2026, singled out a young pinecone preserved in honey as one of the closing bites.

Eating at Maaemo is a zen-like experience. The kitchen floats above the glassed-in dining room, making the restaurant harmonious and undisturbed. Watching the front of house team is like witnessing a ballet where all movements are flawless. We’re well taken care of from the second we lay eyes on the building, to the last delicate bite of the meal; a chewy young pinecone preserved in honey.
