The story
Kolonialen Bislett is a modern cuisine restaurant at Sofiesgate 16 in Oslo, and the White Guide gave it Masters level in 2026, the same year Michelin listed it as Recommended. The neighbourhood restaurant sits between St. Hanshaugen and Pilestredet, close to bus and tram stops.
The menu follows whatever the kitchen likes best at its peak. Vegetables, meat and fish are chosen through the team's experience in responsible and ethical sourcing, with the aim of serving the highest quality at a fair price. The modern cuisine here changes with the season, so the dishes on a given evening depend on what is at its best.
The White Guide describes a classic bistro with checkered floor tiles and shelves of knickknacks. A window seat looks out over the neighbourhood graffiti and passing dog walkers. Locals and business diners fill the room, so booking ahead is advised. The wine list holds over 800 selected bottles and reflects the training of owner Pontus Dahlström, formerly a founding partner at Maaemo. Guests are encouraged to ask for something special by the glass.
