The story
La Rumbla brings Spanish-inspired shared plates to historic Arrowtown. Sam and PJ built the restaurant after spending seasons in Catalonia. They wanted to translate the late-night energy of those streets into a welcoming dining room. Every level of cook now contributes to the menu. Dishes rotate daily and launch at 5 pm. The kitchen prepares everything from scratch, ensuring gluten, dairy, and vegan options remain available throughout the week.
South Island farms supply the meats for house-made sausages. Harbour Fish delivers sustainable catches. Royalburn lamb and octopus anchor many evenings, while paella and seafood fideos follow when the market supports them. A potato tortilla adds substance to the spread. Seasonal sorbets crafted in-house round out the dessert offerings.
Bartenders work closely with the kitchen to align flavours across the board. The back bar stocks international and local spirits mixed with fresh fruit. Wine lists change almost daily, drawing from New Zealand, Australia, France, and Spain. This attention to detail has earned the restaurant a reputation among locals who value generous portions and straightforward service.
