The story
JanZen, at Rietveld 130 in Woerden, is a French kitchen run by chef-owner Jeroen and hostess Natasja van Hensbergen. Michelin named it Recommended in 2026, and the Lekker500 guide placed it in its Top 500 the same year.
Jeroen has led the kitchen since 2018 and cooks with whatever the season brings. Diners can order from the à la carte menu or choose a tasting menu of three to six courses. The wine list can be sent by email before a visit, so you can plan your bottle at home.
The restaurant occupies a 1930s villa on the edge of Woerden, beside the Oude Rijn and surrounded by fields. One recent reviewer found the interior dark and a little worn, but judged the food the main draw. The dining room is spacious, there is a herb garden on the grounds, and guests can eat outside on sunny days.
