The story
MOUT & HOUT is a BBQ restaurant at Jan Smuldersstraat 24 in Vessem, and in 2026 it received a Michelin Bib Gourmand for good quality, good value cooking.
Chef Walter Dijkstra cooks meat on a smoker, a Parrilla and Josper grills. Gault&Millau scored the kitchen 12 in 2026 and singled out quality regional meat and Brabantine hospitality. The restaurant calls its pitmasters masters of fire, smoke and oxygen, and its grill cooking is built around that control.
Mout is malt, the ingredient that gives beer its body, and hout is the wood that feeds the fire. The beers served here come from the restaurant's own brewery. The house describes itself as the beer and BBQ experience of the Kempen, and outdoor seating is available.
