The story
De Nieuwe Polderkeuken, at Dorpsplein 7, 2821 AR Stolwijk, is a French-leaning restaurant in the Groene Hart that earned 14 points in the Gault&Millau guide (2026). Owner-chef Frank Streefland runs the kitchen on the first floor of a red corner building in the village centre.
Streefland grew up in the region, and much of his produce comes from the surrounding polder. Lamb from the Krimpenerwaard, Stolwijk cheese and Oudekerkse honey appear on the menu. The French foundation shows in the sauces and technique, while the dishes shift with the season.
The signature starter is duck liver crème brûlée, served with rhubarb and an olive oil parfait. Monkfish arrives with green asparagus, morel mushrooms and beurre noisette. Guests can also order a Chef's Menu of three to seven courses, built from the à la carte dishes.
