The story
Cèpes, at Houtkampweg 1 in Otterlo, is a French restaurant inside the De Sterrenberg hotel, listed as Recommended by Michelin in 2026. Chef Robert Hartelman leads the kitchen.
The kitchen follows an 80% local, 20% global rule, and every menu includes a course where vegetables take the lead. Beef comes from Farm Fields in Wekerom, and the bread is baked in Ede by Joris. Across the road, a garden of more than 500 berry bushes, plus fruit trees, herbs and edible flowers, supplies the jams, powders and creams that finish many plates.
The signature amuse is a small soesje filled with Olde Remeker cheese and dusted with cèpes powder. Lekker500 has placed the restaurant in its Top 500 every year since 2023, most recently in 2026. Its reviewers describe hand-cut beef tartare with oyster leaf cream, and confit Anjou pigeon with cherry and a Pommeau jus. The wine list leans toward Dutch bottles alongside the French and Italian ones.
The dining room is modern and minimalist, softened by wood and earthy tones. The kitchen is half open behind glass, so you can watch the brigade work. Restaurant and hotel are adults only.
