The story
Pieters Restaurant, at Hoofdstraat 73 in Bergambacht, is a modern French restaurant that earned one Michelin star in 2026. The kitchen works with a Mediterranean streak and a seasonal menu, and the dining room sits in a former house on the village's long shopping street.
Pieter de Ronde, an SVH Master Chef, cooks with a classic French base and a clear focus on the product. He sources as much as he can from the Krimpenerwaard and likes to see where his meat, fish and vegetables come from. The menu is compact and changes with the seasons, so the dishes on any given evening depend on what the region is offering.
Among the plates reviewers have singled out are a Ibérico pork neck glazed with elderflower and served with shiitake and pistachio, and a wild sea bass set on green asparagus with wild garlic oil. The bread is baked in house and served with Perkouw farm butter, which Pieter salts himself. A house-smoked Scottish salmon arrives with herb cream and Oscietra caviar.
Paula de Ronde works as hostess and sommelier, and her wine list leans on French and Italian bottles. The non-alcoholic pairings are chosen with the same care, and a dealcoholized Pinot Noir with raspberry and cherry notes is a good example. In summer, guests can eat in the small terrace garden among the herbs and edible flowers the kitchen grows.
