The story
Veneur is a Classic French restaurant at Weteringschans 171 in Amsterdam, where an open-fire grill sits at the heart of the kitchen. Gault&Millau gave it 14 points in 2026, and the Michelin Guide lists it as Recommended.
Chefs Yoran Jacobi and Moriaan Koeleman, both formerly of Restaurant Juwelier, cook around a grill with roaring flames. The menu is product-driven and draws on French tradition, the season and open fire. Diners have praised Zeeland oysters with sourdough and salted Guernsey butter, lightly seared mackerel on tomato confit, and a grilled turbot of over 600 grams with pil-pil sauce.
Guests can sit in the main restaurant, at the eatbar with a view of the open kitchen, or at marble terrace tables when the weather is fine. The wine list pairs familiar labels with producer bottles, many of them poured by the glass. Host and sommelier Bas Hazen coordinates the service.
