The story
Augustin is a modern cuisine restaurant at Didžioji gatvė 18 in Vilnius, awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026 for good quality, good value cooking.
Darius Medvedevas leads the kitchen and has been part of the team almost since the opening. In 2025 he received the Michelin Young Chef Award. The restaurant belongs to Vytautas Samavičius, who also runs Monai, Momo Grill and BROND, and whose first restaurant, Le Cle, opened in Klaipėda in 2009.
The menu moves from cold dishes to hot ones, then mains. Beef tartare comes with potato gratin, capers, shimeji mushrooms and a kefir-dill sauce (18€). The kohlrabi millefeuille pairs crayfish tails with dan dan sauce and hazelnuts (15€), and roasted pumpkin arrives with yogurt, apricots, mango amba and dukkah. Among the mains, duck breast sits beside a pancake filled with potato and chorizo.
The name looks back to the Augustinian monks, who found shelter in the neighbouring church more than 350 years ago and shared what they grew with guests and the poor. The kitchen keeps that habit. Seasonal vegetables lead many dishes, and the world-influenced seasoning, from ponzu to chimichurri, is built for passing around a table.
