The story
Mark Jordan at the Beach is a Modern British restaurant at La Plage, La Route de la Haule, Beaumont, on Jersey's south coast near Saint Helier. It holds two AA Rosettes for 2026, and the cooking is built around good produce handled simply.
Mark Jordan led the kitchen at The Atlantic Hotel from 2004 to 2017, and its Ocean Restaurant kept a Michelin star for eleven years under him. This sister restaurant opened in 2011, in the space once known as Bistro Soleil. The Michelin Guide lists it as Recommended in 2026.
The brasserie-style menu gives plenty of choice. Starters have included a pressing of duck and foie gras with fig chutney, and an escabèche of Jersey mackerel with Jersey Royals and chive salad. Mains have run to 30-hour braised short rib with celeriac purée, or cod with mussels in a Thai curry broth. Lunch, Sunday lunch and children's menus sit alongside the à la carte.
Puddings are generous. A crispy thin apple tart comes with maple syrup and Jersey black-butter ice cream, and a white chocolate and pistachio cheesecake is topped with griottines. The Vazart-Coquart Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru is the house Champagne, poured by the glass.
The view is of the bay, and the glassed terrace is the best seat when the Jersey wind picks up. Service is courteous and unhurried, and the setting stays relaxed and casual.
