The story
Tsukumo is a Japanese kaiseki restaurant in Nara-shi, at 968 Kideracho, Nara. The kitchen holds two Michelin stars (2026) for excellent cooking, and it serves its kaiseki as a counter-led omakase course built around the season.
The tasting menu is a monthly kaiseki course, changed with the seasons. Prices run from ¥27,500 to ¥40,000 and shift with procurement costs. Dinner seating begins at 18:00, and last orders are taken at 21:30.
The restaurant moved to the Naramachi district in October 2021. Guests sit at the counter or at a table, with table service throughout the meal. The house describes its cooking as a Japanese kitchen in the ancient capital, where a deep, solemn wind blows across the Yamato plain. Gault&Millau scored it 16 for 2026.
