The story
DODICI, at 239 Kamihakusancho in Kyoto's Nakagyo-ku, is a modern Italian kitchen that earned one Michelin star in 2026. The restaurant sits in front of Hakusan Shrine and serves both lunch and dinner.
Chef de cuisine Hiroshi Omoto has more than 30 years of experience in Italian cooking. He moved to Italy at 28, and his career includes time at starred restaurants there, among them Ristorante Perubbellini and Stella da Bracagli. The menu changes each month with the seasons, which is where the name comes from: DODICI means "12" in Italian. Kameoka duck, Omi beef and pesticide-free vegetables from Ishiwari Farm appear in the courses.
Manager Takeaki Nakajima holds JSA and AIS sommelier certifications and pairs each course with wine from a cellar of about 500 bottles. The bottles come from Italy, France, California and Chile. The room is decorated in gold, silver and dark navy, and Gault&Millau has rated the restaurant 15.5 for 2026.
