The story
Al Petes, at Via dei Capitelli 5/a in Trieste, is an International and seafood restaurant in the old town. The Michelin Guide lists it as Recommended (2026), and it has run in the Cittavecchia since 2012.
Marko Durdevic cooks here and reworks traditional dishes with a modern touch, according to ilGolosario, which awards the restaurant Faccino Contento ++ (2026). Andrea and Giulia Sinico run the restaurant with him. The menu draws on the sea, with sea bass, scallop, clams and octopus, but it also moves into game and offal.
The guide's highlighted plates include marrow with sea bass tartare, chives and yogurt, and a scallop Wellington with coral sauce and lemon gel. Fresh spaghettino comes with clam cream, bottarga and parsley. The ravioli are filled with celeriac and finished with rabbit ragù. For dessert, the crema catalana is flavored with liquorice, and the pina colada is also listed.
The indoor rooms are spacious, and in summer guests can sit on the terrace among the houses of Cavana. Small dogs are welcome, and staff offer a doggy bag for leftovers. The team also organizes catering and private events outside the restaurant.
