The story
Lido 84 is a modern Italian restaurant in Toscolano Maderno, at Corso Zanardelli 196, 25083 Gardone Riviera (BS), on the Lake Garda shore. It earned one Michelin star in 2026, and its chef, Riccardo Camanini, has placed the restaurant on The World's 50 Best Restaurants list several times.
Riccardo Camanini trained with Gualtiero Marchesi, Raymond Blanc and Jean-Louis Nomicos before opening here. He builds his cooking around produce from the surrounding area, including raw mountain milk for churned ice cream and Bagòss cheese for tortellini. His menus change often as he tests new ideas, though a few dishes have stayed on the menu for years.
The Rigatoni Cacio e Pepe en Vessie is the best-known dish. The pasta cooks inside a pig's bladder, and the cook touches the bladder to judge when it is ready. The juices released inside form an emulsion with the cheese, which gives the sauce its creaminess. It can be added to any of the tasting menus.
Giancarlo Camanini leads the front of house and keeps the room attentive without fuss. The glass-walled dining room is hung with eclectic art, and when the weather is good, tables move onto the terrace overlooking the water. The building was once a lido, a beach club for families on holiday. The restaurant has on-site parking and wheelchair access.
