The story
Ai Porteghi Bistrot is a contemporary restaurant at via Cesare Battisti 105 in Padua, listed as Recommended by the Michelin Guide in 2026. Matteo Mezzaro runs the kitchen, with a tasting menu and a wine list built around small producers.
In 2026 ilGolosario awarded the restaurant a Faccino Radioso. The guide describes Mezzaro's cooking as essential, going straight to the flavor of the raw ingredient without shortcuts. Prices are measured: appetizers average €16, first courses €21, main courses €26 and desserts €8. The tasting menu runs from €65 to €85.
Eel appears twice, once with nettle, spinach and carrot cream, and once grilled with a teriyaki glaze and crunchy radishes. The fresh pasta ravioli come with lobster, lemon crustacean bisque, peas and a pink peppercorn egg. Triple-cooked octopus arrives with crunchy fennel, clam mayonnaise and a saffron rice crisp. To finish, there is chocolate mousse with extra virgin olive oil.
The cellar leans toward small-production labels, with a good run of French bottles. Champagne sits beside Franciacorta, Trento DOC and Slovenian whites from Brda. By the glass, sparkling pours range from €6 for a Prosecco to €12 for a Champagne. Still wines by the glass cost €6 or €7. A vegetarian menu is available, and tables can be set outdoors.
