The story

Acanto Milan: Italian Restaurant at Hotel Principe di Savoia

Acanto is an Italian restaurant in Milan, inside Hotel Principe di Savoia at Piazza della Repubblica 17. It holds a Michelin Recommended listing for 2026.

Chef and cooking style

Chef Matteo Gabrielli comes from Varese, and his cooking rests on Lombard traditions. He gives classic dishes an inventive turn with carefully chosen ingredients. The menu keeps traditional classics and typical pasta dishes, but each ingredient gets a livelier, more distinct treatment.

The garden room and the wine

Large windows look out onto a tranquil Italian garden with a bubbling fountain, so the room feels open to the outdoors. Head sommelier Mara Vicelli says Italy has more indigenous vines than any other country, and she enjoys sharing that heritage. Wine Spectator gave the restaurant its Best of Award of Excellence in 2008. The dress code is smart casual.
