The story
Votavota is a modern cuisine restaurant at lungomare Andrea Doria 48 in Marina di Ragusa, Sicily, and holds one Michelin star in the 2026 guide. Chefs Giuseppe Causarano and Antonio Colombo run the kitchen, with a menu that leans on seafood and vegetables from Sicily. The restaurant sits directly on the seafront, so the dining room looks out over the Mediterranean.
The kitchen is fully open to the dining room, so guests can watch the cooks at work. The 50 Top Italy listing for Votavota names dishes such as raw amberjack with smoked tuna broth and costoluto tomato, and lamb cappelletti with chicory and melted Ragusano DOP cheese. Causarano's cooking is described as bold in flavour and careful in its pairings, with Sicilian roots and ideas gathered on his travels.
Part of the produce comes from a plot the chefs call Gli Orti del Votavota, where they grow vegetables, legumes, fruit and some aromatics. Fish, meat and plant-based dishes share the menu. Potato pearls with sea urchin, shellfish and buffalo mozzarella foam show the kitchen's habit of combining land and sea on one plate.
The dining room is white, with linen tablecloths and large windows facing the water. Antonio Colombo's desserts and leavened breads, served in the bread basket, anchor the meal, and his traditional panettone appears every December. The wine list includes an extensive selection of wines by the glass, and tasting menus run eight courses at €150 or six at €120, with a three-course lunch with wine at €80.
