The story
Piazza Duomo at Piazza Risorgimento 4 in Alba holds three Michelin stars (2026) for Enrico Crippa's seasonal Italian cooking. The restaurant sits on the square beside the cathedral, in a historic building.
The Seasonal Things menu runs to 11 courses and draws on the restaurant's greenhouses and its organic and biodynamic gardens. The Journey menu has eight colourful courses that blend French flair, Italian passion and Japanese precision. A Barolo menu builds its plates around the wine in the glass. Midweek from January to mid-September, a four-course seasonal lunch offers a shorter way in.
Autumn brings an eight-course white truffle menu, a nod to the Langhe's best-known ingredient. In spring, peas arrive with cuttlefish in a reduction made from its ink. Snails and polenta recall the Benedictine monks who first bred escargot, and the herbs that fed those snails appear beside them. Recognition keeps coming, including a place on The World's 50 Best Restaurants list at number 32 in 2025.
The walls are pink and carry frescos by Francesco Clemente, and they bounce natural light around the dining room. Windows look out on the piazza and the Duomo. The mood is quiet and restrained, with art kept deliberate and sparse.
Jacopo Dosio curates the list. It starts with a tribute to the Ceretto family's wines, then widens to a broad range of other bottles.
