The story
Al Sorriso is a modern Piedmontese restaurant at via Roma 18, 28018 Soriso (Novara), in the Borgomanero area, and it holds one Michelin star for 2026. The restaurant has run for many years in the same family, with Luisa Valazza in the kitchen and her husband Angelo in the dining room.
Luisa Valazza leads the kitchen with careful technique and carefully chosen ingredients. The ilGolosario guide gave the restaurant its Corona Radiosa in 2026 for this approach. An eight-course tasting menu costs 160 euros, and the kitchen also runs a separate à la carte menu with starters, pasta, mains and dessert.
The summer menu includes duck foie gras with peach, spring onion and red apple extract. Small ravioli filled with guinea fowl come with poppy seed, apple and morels, and salt cod is cooked in oil with lemon potatoes. Piedmontese fassone beef is finished with Barolo, and the dessert is a hazelnut chocolate sformatino with vanilla sauce and red fruit.
Angelo Valazza looks after guests in the dining room, and the wine list is broad. The cheese course draws on Piedmont's valleys and shows the same care as the rest of the menu. The dining room is air-conditioned, and the restaurant has reserved parking and a vegetarian menu. Small pets are welcome. The on-site hotel has simple, refined rooms for guests who want to stay on, and the village streets are paved in porphyry and quiet.
