The story
Al Borgo sits at via Anconetta 8 in Belluno and received a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026 for good quality, good value cooking. The kitchen turns local Dolomite produce into traditional Belluno cuisine, and a guesthouse shares the same grounds.
The Viel-Battiston family runs the house, and tradition leads the menu. In 2026 ilGolosario gave it a Faccino Contento ++, praising a menu that speaks sincerely of the region, from gnocchi to kid goat. The kitchen works with herbs, mushrooms, potatoes, corn, beans and game, and the desserts are made in house. A well-regarded wine cellar backs up the food.
Pastin is the signature dish. Other regional plates include scotadet (toasted polenta with local salami), pasta e fagioli di Lamon, potato gnocchi with farmhouse ragù and roasted local kid goat. A selection of Belluno cheeses arrives with mustards. To finish, there is warm pear tart or artisanal gelato. On average, appetizers run about €12, first courses €13, mains €18 and desserts €6.
The dining room seats 90, with another 90 places outside on the terrace and in the garden. Private parking holds 80 cars, and the restaurant is wheelchair accessible. Small pets are welcome. Guests who stay in the guesthouse are a short walk from Belluno's historic center.
