The story
Damini Macelleria & Affini, at via Cadorna 31 in Arzignano, is a restaurant serving modern cuisine out of a family butcher's shop. The kitchen holds one Michelin star, awarded in 2026, and the restaurant also appears in the 50 Top Italy Grandi Ristoranti 47 guide for the same year.
The Damini family has worked as butchers for four generations, with the first shop opening in San Giovanni Ilarione in the 1920s. Brothers Gian Pietro and Giorgio Damini combined his butchery with Giorgio's cooking to reopen the shop as something more than a counter. Giorgio Damini leads the kitchen, and the restaurant describes itself as the first butcher and restaurant in Europe to earn a Michelin star.
Meat anchors the menu, with tartare, burgers and dry-aged ribeye alongside Kobe beef, Rubia Gallega and pigeon. Seafood also has a clear place on the list. The traditional Milanese cutlet comes out notably tender in this kitchen. A surprise tasting of six or nine courses leaves the chef room to improvise, and the wine list leans on champagne and French bottles.
