The story
Daróg Wine Bar, at 56 Lower Dominick St. in Galway, pairs Irish small plates with a wine list of artisan, organic and biodynamic bottles. The bar holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand (2026) for good quality, good value cooking. Wine comes first here, and the kitchen cooks to match it.
Head chef Stiofán Feeney is a Connemara native who trained at the Savoy in London and has worked at Aroma in Rome and Aniar in Galway. His cooking focuses on precision, seasonality and respect for west coast ingredients. The menu changes with what is fresh, drawing on local meat, seafood and vegetables.
The menu is built from seasonal small plates, served hot and cold, along with meat and cheese boards of charcuterie and Irish artisan cheese. Sommelier Zsolt Lukács selects the list around small producers working organically and biodynamically. Many wines are poured by the glass through a Coravin system, and the bar earned a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence (2025).
Original works by local artists hang throughout the room on a Gallery Wall, and visitors can buy them. Edel Lukács curates the collection. Irish appears on the signage and menus, which gives the room a quiet local character.
