The story
Horgonyzó Kisvendéglő in Tiszavasvári, at Tiszavirág utca 13 in Tiszalök, is a Hungarian riverside kitchen listed as Recommended in the Michelin Guide 2026. It looks like a beachside snack bar, but the winterised lakeside cabin holds a serious kitchen.
The menu follows the classic riverside eatery, with several versions of catfish soup, catfish paprikash and Hortobágy-style stuffed cabbage with carp. The "Korhely" (tipsy) catfish soup is enriched with sour cream and served with sourdough flatbread from the oven. The crispy catfish bites, called "fish crackling", come in a golden crust with homemade dill tartare and marinated red onion.
The wood-fired oven bakes pizzas, duck legs and curd cheese pasta. Tiszalök cheese, Hortobágy Angus beef, Mangalica pork and venison appear throughout. One pizza is topped with catfish paprikash, fish crackling and smoked Tiszalök cheese. There are also burgers, including a catfish version.
A fireplace warms the interior in winter, and a garden runs out the back. The site places the restaurant among the 50-year-old trees of the Tiszalök holiday settlement. Chef Péter Pataki leads the kitchen, and owners Andi and Tamás Kecskés run the house. The wine list leans toward whites, with about half poured by the glass. Gault&Millau gave the restaurant 11 points in 2026.
