The story
Dereszla Bisztró at Kossuth út 2, Bodrogkeresztúr, near Szerencs, serves modern Hungarian cuisine and earned 14 points from Gault&Millau for 2026. The bistro sits at Dereszla Winery on the banks of the Bodrog, so the river views and the house wines are part of the visit.
Young chef Bém Bence leads the kitchen. The short menu relies on local and seasonal produce, including Angus beef and Mangalica pork, and it reaches beyond Hungarian flavours, with octopus and wonton wrappers among the ingredients. Offal turns up often, from duck tongue to confit heart.
The sautéed duck liver has been on the menu for years and keeps changing. It arrives in generous, pink-centred chunks with pickled vegetables, sourdough, and crisp potatoes and onions. The dish is rustic but refined, and some of the winery's own wines appear in the cooking.
Green fish-scale tiles, velvet chairs and a glass wall facing the river define the interior. The terrace suits a few glasses of wine, with about twenty Dereszla wines alongside many bottles from Tokaj and other Hungarian regions.
