The story
Morzsa, at Király utca 42 in Pécs, Hungary, is a contemporary Hungarian bistro that Gault&Millau scored 14 in 2026. The kitchen gives its in-house bakery nearly as much weight as the plates.
Attila Kurucz leads the kitchen. His cooking carries the bold, inventive plates and punchy flavours of a fine dining background, adapted to a bistro format. Small plates and shared tastings suit that approach. A sourdough workshop led by Lili Tomin supplies the breads, and Scandinavian-style pastries appear on the menu. One standout is a French onion soup, rich and concentrated, served with sourdough under melted cheese.
The room is contemporary in design and centred on a long communal table, which works for larger groups or for sharing a table with strangers. Air conditioning and outdoor seating are available. Coffee comes from Danish Coffee Collective, and the wine list leans organic. The Michelin Bib Gourmand (2026) recognises good quality, good value cooking, though the place is not cheap.
