The story
Gänsweid in Wertingen, Germany, serves Swabian country cooking at Gänsweid 1, 86637 Wertingen, on the banks of the Zusam. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded it 2 Kochlöffel for 2026, and the Michelin Guide lists it as Recommended in the same year.
The building was a car workshop before owners Markus Egger and Sabine Simon converted it. The terrace sits directly on the Zusam, and the venue lists outdoor seating among its services.
The lunch card has changed with the season. Recent dishes included calf's liver with apples, onion and purée, and Schlutzkrapfen with brown butter and Parmesan. On Fridays and Saturdays, the kitchen offers a fixed four-course Chef's menu for 59 €.
Guests can buy the bottles served at the table in the Vinothek, sold as "Wein für daheim." The hosts work directly with winemakers and feature a new estate each month. Their own Gänsweid Sekt, made by Schloss Sommerhausen, is listed at 39.50 € per bottle.
