The story
Thuns Dorfkrug in Werdohl runs a French kitchen at Brauck 7, and the Michelin Guide lists it as Recommended for 2026. The restaurant belongs to the Hotel Dorfkrug, so guests can dine in the same building where they stay.
The Schlemmer Atlas awards the house two Kochlöffel for 2026 and puts wine at the center of its write-up. Martin Thun, a certified sommelier and restaurant manager, selects the list. He trained as a sommelier at the Ente vom Lehel in Wiesbaden before joining Thuns. Der Feinschmecker has praised his choice of European estates from Germany, France and Italy for their fair prices.
The dining room has a chic feel, with touches of brass, marble and velvet and rotating art exhibitions. Oak tables around the bar host a simpler Gasthausküche, while the restaurant itself serves a more formal table. Private celebrations for 30 guests can take over a reserved room, and from 50 guests the whole restaurant, the garden terrace and the bar area are available.
The Good Friday fish and seafood buffet begins with a glass of Fraenzi, a sparkling frizzante made with house-made rhubarb puree. For Mother's Day the kitchen serves an asparagus and Riesling soup, followed by a choice of five main courses.
